ISLAMABAD: The first electric vehicle policy in the history of Pakistan has been approved, Fawad Chaudhry Federal Minister for Science and Technology has said.
According to details, the first electric vehicle policy in the history of the country has been approved. Under the policy, motorcycles and vehicles can be transferred on batteries. Electric vehicle manufacturing units will also be set up in Pakistan.
Talking to media, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan wants to transfer motorcycles and three-wheelers to electric vehicles. Pakistan is going to be one of the few countries in the world to transfer transport to electricity.
Fawad Chaudhry said that only 1% duty would be levied on those who install electric vehicle manufacturing units in Pakistan. The Ministry of Science and Technology is working on the use of batteries in the future.
The Ministry of Industry, Environment, and Science and Technology worked together for an electric vehicle policy, and it was approved at a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee yesterday.
