The Sugar Mills Association has challenged the inquiry report of the Sugar Commission of Inquiry in the Islamabad High Court and sought its annulment.
The petition of the Sugar Mills Association has been fixed for hearing tomorrow, which will be heard by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah.
The petitioner contended that the Commission of Inquiry constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued an investigation report into the rise in sugar prices in which the mill owners were blamed. The commission did not meet the proposed legal requirements while conducting the investigation.
The Sugar Mills Association requested the court to quash the report of the inquiry commission issued on May 21.
According to the report of the Commission of Inquiry, the Sugar Mills Mafia looted from the people with connivance while manipulating the financial accounts and misrepresenting the taxes caused billions of rupees to the national exchequer.
