Three major hospitals in Karachi and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore have been taken over by the federal government. The Federal Ministry of National Health Regulations has issued emergency letters to the four major institutions.
The federal government has started preparations to take over four major institutions, including Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, National Institute of Cardiology, National Institute of Pediatrics, and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
The Federal Ministry of National Health Regulations has issued an emergency letter to these institutions seeking details of available machinery from the three hospitals in Karachi while banning new recruitments in Jinnah Hospital.
The letter added that no machinery or equipment would be transferred from the three hospitals.
On the other hand, sources said that the Sindh Chief Minister intends to convene a meeting soon in this regard in which the demand for reimbursement of expenses incurred on the three hospitals in Karachi since 2011 will be considered.
